Arranger & Composer

Derry is a composer of multiple genres from cabaret songs with topical humour to romantic ballads as well as relishing the world of Musical Theatre and its vast exploits.

Derry has written music for Opera, Ballet, Pop, Musical Theatre, Cabaret, and sound-scaping for theatre and short film and is an experienced arranger offering a flexible, wide-ranging service, for composers, musical directors and producers. Derry has worked extensively with Heartbreak Productions on writing  various musical shows from Shakespeare's comedies and tragedies including "Love's Labour's Lost" and "Richard III" to the fun filled family entertainment adapting six of David Walliam's hugely successful novels.

On any given project the level of orchestration and/or arranging required can vary from simple transcription through to additional composition. Derry is equally at ease working at either level according to the client’s requirements.

Derry prepares his client’s scores using AVID Sibelius software for such projects as:

• Original arrangements and composition

• Arranging /orchestration from a pencil sketch

• Arranging /orchestration of an electronic demo

• Additional orchestration

• Score reading at recording sessions

• Transposition
